The Lizard RNLI Lifeboat launched on service shortly after 2.30pm this afternoon tasked to go to the assistance of a 24ft motorboat positioned near Kynance Cove. The lone sailor on board was suffering from severe exhaustion and fatigue and was unable to proceed. The motorboat had sustained damage and was drifting towards the shoreline. On arrival Deputy Second Coxswain Darren Thirlaway placed one of his crew on board the motorboat. The lifeboat escorted the motorboat into Porthleven Harbour arriving at approximately 4.45pm. With an East North Easterly wind at Kilcobben Cove, re-housing RNLB Rose can be dangerous so a decision was made to place her on the pontoon in Newlyn Harbour under the watchful eye of our colleagues at Penlee Lifeboat Station.
