The Lizard Lifeboat

Sunday 9th August 2020

The final call of quite a busy weekend for all of our crews and station personnel came last evening at 21.55 when RNLB Rose was launched on service to go to the assistance of an 18ft Inflatable Rib with one person on board which had lost all engine power and was drifting in the area of Polbream Cove near Lizard Point. On approach to the position of the Rib given, 2 white flares were fired by the lifeboat crew to assist in determining its exact position. The adrift vessel was successfully located and with a tow rope attached it was towed to safety just around the corner into Polpeor Cove at Lizard Point where its occupant, assisted by two local fisherman who were waiting,  transferred the rib back on to dry land.  Thank you to everyone involved in all the services on what has turned out to be a busy weekend.
