The Lizard Lifeboat

Thursday 8th August 2019

The lifeboat launched on service at 22.39 pm to go to the assistance of an 11-meter yacht, position 2.5 nautical miles west of Lizard Point. In a freshening southerly wind with 4 people on board, the yacht was very low on fuel and its crew lacking confidence to continue sailing. Arriving on scene the lifeboat shadowed the yacht as she motor sailed into calmer waters around Lizard Point.  It was later decided to pass a tow line and the lifeboat towed the yacht into Falmouth Harbour. RNLB Rose arrived back at Kilcobben for re-housing at 03.20 am.
